Soccer.
In King Edward's reign of
England (1307-1327), laws were passed that threatened imprisonment to
anyone caught playing soccer. King Edward's proclamation said:" For as
much as there is a great noise in the city caused by hustling over large
balls, from which many evils may arise, which God forbid, we command and
forbid on behalf of the King, on pain of imprisonment, such game to be
used in the city future."

FACTS ABOUT
ANIMALS |
|
A father Emperor penguin withstands the Antarctic
cold for 60 days or more to protect his eggs, which he keeps on his
feet, covered with a feathered flap. During this entire time he doesn't
eat a thing. Most father penguins lose about 25 pounds while they wait
for their babies to hatch. Afterward, they feed the chicks a special
liquid from their throats. When the mother penguins return to care for
the young, the fathers go to sea to eat and rest.

HISTORICAL FACTS |

Napoleon took 14,000 French decrees and simplified
them into a unified set of 7 laws. This was the first time in modern
history that a nation's laws applied equally to all citizens. Napoleon's
7 laws are so impressive that by 1960 more than 70 governments had
patterned their own laws after them or used them verbatim.
